marketing is making money online, with other
peoples products. It is done through the promotion of
products of other companies for a commission on each sale
one generates.
Companies
and people promoting products in this way are called
"partners", "associates" or
"affiliates". The promotion is usually done
through websites or email lists. But there are no
restriction. Anywhere you can put a link or a website
address, or a hyperlink to a product, you can become a
promotional vehicle for the producer of the product. It
is akin to being a "manufacturing Agent or
Retailer". Naturally, you have to have
the agreement from the originator or producer of the
product. This is usually done through affiliate
systems managers like Commission
Junction or similar companies.
Affiliate
marketing is not a pyramid-selling scheme and it is not
MLM. Affiliate sites are generally speaking regular
internet sites of sellers looking for products to earn
cash. It is like being an Internet retailers, helping to
spread knowledge and market penetration for a product or
series of products. It is a good way for individuals
wanting a serious work-at-home business that they can
perform from anywhere in the world, with good
earning potential.
There is
a side to affiliate selling that is less acceptable and
you have to be careful with the choice of your products.
There are, like in almost any business scammers and spammers. Currently, the must
visible ones are those that advertise "Make Money on
Google". They have absolutely nothing to do with
Google. Try to stay clear of those and similar
schemes, because apart from spending money, nothing will
happen! Look at the product and see whether it is worth
selling! The other aspect you have to take with a "prise
of salt" are earnings claims by some of the
product owners. They are often widely exaggerated. But as
long as your make your selection of products on
the basis of realism and watch that you are actually
selling a product, rather than a "pipe
dream", you should be ok.
